Nihar Malaviya has officially taken the role of CEO at Penguin Random House (PRH) on a permanent basis, following his nine-month tenure as interim chief executive. This transition comes in the wake of Markus Dohle’s departure shortly after a federal judge rejected Penguin Random House’s proposed merger with Simon & Schuster, a deal championed by Dohle. Penguin Random House, the largest trade publisher globally, has been undergoing a comprehensive company-wide restructuring in 2023, leading to the departure of numerous senior editors through layoffs and voluntary retirement plans.
