Nobel-winning writer VS Naipaul dies at 85

Nobel prize-winning British author VS Naipaul died at the age of 85. Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul was born in Trinidad as the son of an Indian civil servant. He studied English literature at Oxford University on a scholarship.Naipaul was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2001 for “having united perceptive narrative and incorruptible scrutiny in works that compel us to see the presence of suppressed histories.” He also won the Booker Prize in 1971 for ‘In A Free State.’ He wrote more than 30 books.
