Sinhala poetry traces back to the oldest surviving books dated 12th century. Dynamism between the tradition and newness is the hallmark witnessing throughout the history of the world of Sinhalese poetry and this is what it compiled in Mirrored Images: An Anthology of Sri Lankan Poetry, a collection of poems which reflect the growth of poetry in Sri Lanka particularly in the nation’s post-independence era.

Edited by Rajiva Wijesinha, who was until recently a senior professor of languages at Sabaragamuwa University and currently MP of Sri Lanka, Mirrored Images: An Anthology of Sri Lankan Poetry is a fair attempt to highlight the country’s poetry since independence.
