Noida-Greater Noida Book Fair

The week-long Noida-Greater Noida Book Fair was organised by National Book Trust (NBT), India at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida from September 12-18, 2016. More than100 publishers including NBT, Sahitya Akademi, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and Diamond publications, were present at the show.

The Noida-Greater Noida Book Fair was no less than a treat as multiple stalls were offering English and Hindi pulp fiction novels at cheap rates. Classics of Daniel Defoe, Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer, William Blake and William Shakespeare as well as novels by Dan Brown, Nicholas Sparks and Robert Ludlum were available for young readers.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (Independent Charge) while inaugurating the Noida-Greater Noida Book Fair said, “Without knowledge, one cannot attain salvation.”

While, Baldeo Bhai Sharma, chairman, NBT opined that the habit of reading has not diminished as a large number of people enthusiastically participate in the book fairs and mobile exhibitions being organised in different corners of the country.

NP Singh, district magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar was the chief guest on the occasion. He observed that our ancient texts are the basis of our culture and knowledge. They have played a significant role in passing wisdom from generation to generation.
