2nd edition of Shillong Book Fair held successfully

National Book Trust, India organized the 2nd edition of Shillong Book Fair from October 5- 13, 2024 at the State Central Library, Shillong. The book fair was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya –C. H. Vijayashankar. Speaking at the inauguration, F.R. Kharkongor, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept. of Arts and Culture, Govt. of Meghalaya congratulatied the National Book Trust India for choosing Shillong as the venue for the 2024 chapter of the book fair. He said, “We hope that this (book fair event) will grow from strength to strength.”

While, Yuvraj Malik, Director National Book Trust India, said that books are an integral part of any civilisation. This week-long celebration of books and culture featured around 100 stalls, showcasing a wide variety of books in different Indian languages and genres.
