Birth centenary of Bhisham Sahni celebrated

Sahitya Akademi with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, celebrated the birth centenary of the famous Hindi writer Bhisham Sahni from August 8-10, 2015. The celebrations were inaugurated by Dr Mahesh Sharma, honourable minister of state for culture and tourism (independent charge). On this occasion a photo and book exhibition focusing on Bhisham Sahni was organised by the Sahitya Akademi, as well as a monograph on this famous Hindi writer, playwright and actor, was released.

A national seminar was also organised, where various aspects of Bhisham Sahni’s work were discussed by writers and critics like Govind Nihallani, Parikshit Sahni, Y Lakshmi Prasad, Asghar Wajahat, Arun Kamal, Purushottam Agarwal, Damodar Khadse, Nityanand Tiwari, etc.
