Editor – S K Khurana The year started on a positive note with meaningful events happening in the industry First came the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival and then the much talked about DSC Jaipur Literary Festival. These literary and cultural festivals kept the audiences engaged, and enchanted. It is indeed a welcome move and very different from the routine book fairs. They bring the authors and the readers together, which is a big motivator for the authors. Interesting panel sessions help the audience know more about the industry trends.

Then, there was the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Bangalore, held after 41 years. This grand literary event saw more than 350 stalls displaying all kinds of literary Works. Yes, India is a literature-rich country and with 22 different languages, the scope of literary works is phenomenal.

Even the Delhi Book Fair held in December 2010 was a big hit with masses, who thronged in fairly good numbers. Despite the winter chill, children could be seen at the various stalls with their parents, where the latter were busy looking for suitable books to satiate their children’s inquisitive minds.
