An evening of Urdu poetry with Javed Akhtar

Aiwan-E-Ghalib Auditorium at Mata Sundari Road in New Delhi was fully packed with fans and followers of Javed Akhtar on an evening of Urdu poetry session ‘Javed Akhtar Ke Saath Ek Shaam’ organised recently by Star Publications Pvt Ltd and Ghalib Institute. Eminent dignitaries and special guests present at the vivacious occasion included Salman Khurshid, union minister of law & justice; Mohtarma Shabana Azmi; prof SR Kidwai of Ghalib Institute, Amar Verma, chairman, Star Publications Pvt Ltd and others.

Picked from his books Tarkash and Lava, which was released recently in New Delhi, Javed Akhtar’s recitation of his famous poems like Ansu, Shabana and Waqt fully mesmerised the crowd who echoed the surroundings with series of cheerful wah, wah… “Shabana is an idealistic dedication to my wife Shabana Azmi to enunciate our busy professional days, which always make us apart almost every day of our life,” mentioned Javed.

“Javed is simply genius in various ways. Once on our way to a shooting spot, he jotted down something on a piece of notepad. He replied ‘lyrics’ to my enquiry. When we reached the spot, he handed over the ready verse to the music director saying smilingly that he kept prepared it long time back,” said Shabana Azmi. Everyone at the event was fascinated by the life and literary contribution of Javed Akhtar. Amar Verma of Star Publications expressed ‘Javed Akhtar Ke Saath Ek Shaam’ as an eventful occasion which perfectly marked a graceful moment of celebration of the company’s 60th year anniversary.
