The present study, according to the author is, “Not only a reaction against a whole century of literal interpretation of the Veda, but also as an exploration in to the mystical elements of the Rigveda, elements which could not have been developed except through some such discipline as tapas, yoga, which have been disregarded and sometimes denied by Western exegesis.” Not getting any satisfactory answers from Western philosophies, she turned to India, which she felt is the cradle of wisdom….

The book tries to fathom out the ancient values from established prejudice, which the author believes is still being judged on the basis of our own 2,000 years of Western history. The book, therefore, is not only a reaction against a whole century of literary interpretation into mystical elements of the Rigveda, elements which could not have been developed except through such disciplines as tapas, yoga elements which have been disregarded and sometimes denied by Western exegesis.

The work is concentrated more on the text of the Rigveda as being the foundation and authentication of that spiritual message and vision which the Hindus have always claimed to be central. The author tries to probe the original contemplation of the rishis concerning the waters of space in their many manifestations.
