Frankfurt Book Fair’s India node, German Book Office New Delhi, has been organising the Exclusive India Trips every year since 2013. This unique B2B Trip aims at offering international publishing professionals, with an interest in the Indian/South Asian publishing & allied industry, a deep insight into the local publishing market. India, among the top seven publishing nations in the world, is house to a dynamically expanding book trade with a diversely rich language publishing scenario to go along with its prominent English language publishing landscape. Therefore, Exclusive India Trip is a curated Trip which combines direct market interface and expert insights offering an opportunity for the participants, a select group of international professionals from various geographies, to meet and interact directly with key players from various domains of the Indian publishing industry, while adding to their knowledge of the book trade and market in India.

While fostering bilateral relations, the German delegates will also take part in the GLOBALOCAL. In effect, this is a German Publishers Trip which is a joint initiative of the Frankfurt Book Fair and Federal Foreign Office of Germany. This Trip takes them around Delhi and Chennai – two of the most important publishing industry hubs in India. Delhi is where prominent independent publishing houses co-exist with the important multinational publishers. Delhi is also home to book retail chains, local/indie bookstores, literary agencies and boasts of an active literary scene. Chennai, on the other hand, is a city known globally for its digital solution providers while also houses some powerhouse independent Indian publishers as well. So between Delhi and Chennai, the participants visit carefully selected publishing houses [independent and multinational], book stores [retail chains, e-retailers, independent shops], digital providers [solution and platform providers] while also getting a chance to interact with literary columnists, editors, and authors.
