Sahitya Akademi continues to host numerous events

Sahitya Akademi is known for hosting an array of events in the literary world. Here’s a glimpse of three of their events held recently: Seminar on National Language: Sahitya Akademi recently organised a seminar on National Language: Form, Challenges and Possibilities. It was a daylong event, which kicked off with a welcome address by K Srinivasa Rao, secretary, Sahitya Akademi, followed by introductory remarks by VP Gaur, director (OL), ministry of culture; inaugural address by Girishwar Mishra, VC, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya and presidential address by Triloki Nath Chaturvedi. The chief guest was Achutanand Mishra and Mahesh Gupta was guest of honour.

Abhimanyu Unnuth receives honorary citizenship of Sahitya Akademi: Abhimanyu Unnuth, Hindi writer, won the medal of honorary citizenship. He was accompanied by his wife and Gulshan Sooklall, the assistant secretary of World Hindi Secretariat. In his welcoming speech, K Srinivasa Rao, secretary, Sahitya Akademi said, “This award went to foreign writers who have contributed greatly to promoting Indian literature.”

Viswanath Prasad Tiwari had high praise for Abhimanyu Unnuth and claimed that the writings of the author Mauritian symbolise the tribulations of Indian immigrants and Indian diaspora worldwide.

Abhimanyu Unnuth accepted the award on behalf of the Mauritian nation and dedicated the honour to Mauritian Hindi writers in the Diaspora, and the ancestors whose troubles have largely inspired her writings.

Women Power @ Sahitya Akademi: A poetry reading session was recently held at Sahitya Akademi under Asmita programme, where well-known women writers Archana Datta (English), Mamta Kiran (Hindi) and J Bhagyalakshmi (Telugu) read their works. It was a packed house and audience enjoyed poetry and readings of all the authors.
