The launch event witnessed discussion about the author’s association since the onset of the journey of BrahMos and strides made under his leadership in an unexplored path. “This book is a great creative work, dedicated to the history of the formation, development and prospects of the most modern form of military-technical co-operation,” remarked AG Lenov, director general, NPO Mashionostroyenia, Moscow who wrote ‘prolusion’ alongside Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘foreword’ in The Path Unexplored (See review on page 41).

Value addition to this book comes from the fact that the author is a distinguished scientist, managing director and chief executive officer of the joint venture ‘BrahMos’ who has been at the forefront since the initial stage of this bilateral co-operation between India and Russia. The Path Unexplored spans the journey of BrahMos that made India a world leader in missile technology with the introduction of one of the fastest, high-precision supersonic cruise missile, realised in short time with novel collaborative effort between the two nations. Dr Pillai in his book narrates the first time experience that both countries ventured in an unexplored path to demonstrate ‘We can do it’.

In conclusion, this book derives on the fact that India is a great nation – a powerhouse of knowledge with great civilization heritage. As a country, India’s requirements are large to meet all these expectations to be a global leader and to be among the top three countries, what all the country needs include the organizations and industries that of world class.
