Shakti Malik

Stalwart in publishing industry – will be missed profoundly

Shakti Malik had been very active as a member of the Federation of Indian Publishers for the last eighteen years. He was a past president of the Federation and was currently its hony. general secretary. He was also the director of the Delhi Book Fair and had been holding this position since its inception in 1995.

Considering the significant contribution that Malik had made to the Indian society through publication of books on Indian society and culture, the Council for National Development had awarded him the accolade of Bharat Gaurav in the year 1998.

The Federation of Indian Publishers honoured him with the Dedicated Service to Publishing Award in 2004.

Having worked in the field of publishing for more than three decades, Shakti Malik’s publishing house Abhinav Publications has made a place for himself in the Indian publishing industry. Starting as a small enterprise for publishing books in social sciences, Abhinav Publications, he gradually moved towards publication of books and monographs relating to Indian history, arts and architecture, archaeology, classical dances, religion and philosophy.

Through publication of such books on Indian heritage, Shakti Malik immensely contributed to the promotion and better understanding of Indian culture.
