“On behalf of FICCI, we thank the Government of India for including shops of educational books for students in its list of exemptions during the lockdown. MHA had issued an order to this effect on 21st April 2020 (Order No. 40-3/2020-DM-I(A)). This exemption will benefit the scores of students who are studying from home while following social distancing requirements. We hope the various state governments will take cognizance of this order and include shops of educational books for students in their list of exemptions so that students have access to necessary supplies to effectively study at home”, Ms Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Co-Chair, FICCI Publishing Committee.

But we believe children will always find the silver lining, a reason to smile. In our little effort to entertain them and to make them smile further, we are happy to collaborate with the wonderful Storyteller bookstore of Kolkata and LBB to bring to them some of our authors and books. We hope the kids will enjoy these as much as we have enjoyed publishing these books.

Renuka Chatterjee, VP Publishing, Speaking Tiger: “This is a time for simple pleasure that you can find within your own home – and what better than books? Speaking Tiger is staying connected with its readers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and also through all the ‘virtual’ spaces that are opening up, such as Storyteller Bookstore and LBB’s weekend reading sessions, and the Jaipur Litfest’s virtual festival, Brave New World. We really appreciate how creative everyone is being to keep readers engaged and making sure the show goes on! We’re focusing on bringing out new books as e-books, and looking forward to the time when we can start printing again, and get our books to bookstores once again.”

Ordinarily, we would have been delighted to host these wonderful Talking Cub (the children’s imprint of Speaking Tiger) authors at Storyteller Bookstore in Kolkata. For now, we look forward to hosting them online, and hopefully in person sooner or later! Post the lockdown, we will be happy to deliver their titles to children nationwide”, said Mayura Misra of Storyteller Bookstore.
