New book in 11 months – Shunya

During New Delhi World Book Fair’14, a new book Shunya, published by Diamond Books was launched by famous motivational speaker Shiv Khera and others. Authored by a young writer Varun Sahgal, it is an interesting read. AABP in conversation with Varun, who is full of youth and excitement, discovers his expedition of completing a book in 11 months, which he summarizes as an extended pregnancy.

Born to police officer father and a doctor mother in the city of Kolkata, Varun Sahgal spent his initial days of pre schooling in Kolkata and has changed many different schools and experienced different places travelling with his father and mother across the length and breadth of the country. He is currently a successful management intern with the Taj Group of Hotels in Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. He is not only an author but also has an interest in a lot of other art oriented fields like photography, painting, music, dance and theater. “Shunya” is his second venture when it comes to writing. His first venture, a children’s fiction, “The Search for the Royal traitor” has been in the market for a while and is doing well.

When asked, how he prefers to sum up all his accolades and hard work, he just has one thing to say, “It is action and not words that are responsible for making a man a champion.”

Sharing about his new book, he added, “An ancient artifact lost in time is about to reveal itself. The story begins with the public assassination of a young lass (Kalpa) and two cops (Ariender and Jaiveer) getting unknowingly involved with it. From here begins the search for finding the assassin, but is Kalpa’s murder just a public assassination? Or is there a bigger plot behind the murder of the young lass? Join Ariender and Jaiveer as they try to cheat death and betrayal to find the bigger picture behind a simple murder and how their search links them to the story of a lost ancient myth of the past; making them mere pawns on a large chessboard of greed, power and betrayal.”
