Canada is the GOH country at Frankfurt Book Fair 2020
Canada is the Guest of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2020 (14-18 October 2020). The country will showcase their diversity and culture.Canadian books are the product of a mature industry that is national in scope, with approximately 300 book publishers located in over 80 towns and cities in all 10 provinces and 3 territories. These publishers include firms of all sizes, from microbusinesses to established international leaders, both Canadian- and foreign-owned. Combined, the publishers produce approximately 8,500 new Canadian-authored titles per year in all formats, namely print, digital and audio.
The 71st Frankfurter Buchmesse was successfully held from October 16-20, 2019, with a significant increase in the number of visitors of 8.3 percent at the weekend and a rise of 3.7 percent on the trade visitor days. In 2019, the fair welcomed 302,267 visitors (2018: 285,024), an increase of 6.0 percent compared to last year. This year, 7,450 exhibitors from 104 countries participated (2018: 7,503 exhibitors from 109 countries). Norway was the Guest of Honour at the fair.
