Capexil’s Collective @ Frankfurter Buchmesse 2019
India publishes over 100,000 new titles by thousands of publishers in 24 Indian languages annually. This places India at the sixth rank in terms of the number of books published and second in terms of the number of English language publications in the world.
The book industry in India is worth over US$ 7 billion approximately and growing at around 15% every year. We export books, publications and make printing services accessible to more than 120 countries around the world.
India has had the distinction of being the Guest of Honour country at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 1986 and 2006, Paris Book Fair 2007, London Book Fair 2009, Moscow International Book Fair 2009, Turin International Book Fair 2010, Beijing International Book Fair 2010, Ghana International Book Fair 2011, Sharjah International Book Fair, 2011, Seoul International Book Fair 2013, Havana International Book Fair 2015 and recently Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2019. It’s an honour for India to be the Guest of Honour country at the Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL) in Mexico (30 November – 8 December 2019) and Paris Book Fair (20-23 March 2020) in Paris. CAPEXIL will be promoting Indian Printing & Publishing Industry in both these fairs in co-ordination with NBT. Indian publishers are publishing books in all fields from photographic albums to children books. Indian text books in STM, humanities and social sciences are used by students across the world. Nearly 40,000 magazines and journals virtually act as conduit to regular and current information network for the educational and research institutions, professionals and discriminating readers the world over. In view of the sophisticated printing and binding facilities, more and more world publishers are setting up their offices in India to get best products at a cost-effective rate and relying on Indian publishers, booksellers and printers for quality jobs. India can provide books and printing services to publishers and give them the best quality as per their need at competitive and affordable prices. CAPEXIL welcomes participants from across the globe to the Frankfurt Book Fair 2019.

Capexil’s Book Division facilitates export growth by sponsoring delegations of members on trips abroad, by inviting academic and other concerned professionals, with a view to promote Indian books and printing in the overseas markets and to project the Indian industry associated with this segment. I first went to Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2007 under a fair fellowship programme. After 12 years I know enough to understand that there is so much more to learn and gain from the fair. I have learnt much and practiced what I have learnt at Frankfurter Buchmesse more than any other place. We have done pioneering work in Tamil publishing.
