22 Padma Awards for literature in 2014

The Central government recently announced the winners of the prestigious Padma Awards for 2014. Padma Bhushan was awarded to Dr Mrityunjay Athreya, Anita Desai, Dr Dhirubhai Thaker, Vairamuthu Ramasamy Thevar and Ruskin Bond for Literature and Education. While, Prof. Anisuzzaman and Prof. Lloyd I Rudolph and Prof Susanne H Rudolph, were awarded Padma Bhushan in Literature and Education in foreign category.

While, Padma Shri was awarded to Dr Naheed Abidi, Prof Ashok Chakradhar, Chhakchhuak Chhuanvawra, Keki N Daruwalla, Prof Ganesh Narayandas Devi, Prof Kolakaluri Enoch, Prof (Dr) Ved Kumari Ghai, Manorama Jafa, Prof Rehana Khatoon, Dr Waikhom Gojen Meeitei, Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri, Prof Dinesh Singh, Dr (Mrs) P Kilemsungla for Literature and Education. While, Dr Sengaku Mayeda was awarded Padma Shri for Literature and Education in the foreign category.
