Marvel books come to India through Parragon now!

Parragon Publishing India, a long time licensee for Disney for more than over a decade, now enters the arena of Marvel. Some of the favourite Marvel characters are: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Spider Man, Peter Pan, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and Ant Man.

The product line would be gifting/ tins, board books, packs, lift the flap, magnet and book packs, pop ups, storybook collections, collector’s editions, cased books, paperbacks in landscape format, book wallets/carry packs, colouring & sticker activities, activity packs, colouring fun pads, doodles, Novels & Fiction, Joke books etc.

Marvel has quite a few important movie releases in 2019. Avengers: Endgame that released recently on 26 April has seen a huge craze and success worldwide creating records. X-men: Dark Phoenix released on June 2; Spider Man: Far from Home releases on July 2 and The New Mutants releases August 2.

The crossover in children’s books!

MMS & Overleaf bring UK children’s books to India and take Indian children’s books around the world.

MMS is a children’s publishing sales agency independently owned by husband and wife team: Tricia and Andrew Macmillan. They have been working with Subrahmanian Seshadri, CEO of Overleaf Books LLP, to discover opportunities in the Indian marketplace for the many publishers MMS represents. This collaboration has led to MMS attending the World Book Fairs for the past two years and making arrangements for distribution of their children’s publishers by HarperCollins India or Scholastic India.

Tricia and Andrew were invited to present at the HCI sales conference last July and were delighted to showcase their many different and diverse publishers to the Indian market. Their work with Scholastic India is going very well indeed with several publishers now reaching Indian market.

Another outcome from these trips to India has been the signing of two excellent Indian publishers, Duckbill and Henu, to MMS. This means that these Indian publishers will be selling titles or rights in the many export markets where MMS has agents and distributors. Plus, there’s another Indian publisher in the pipeline! Duckbill titles were on show at the London Book Fair earlier this year and will be on the MMS stands at both the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Shanghai Children’s Book Fair later this year.

The UK success of MMS publisher Lantana Publishing and, in particular, the Chitra Soundar titles beautifully illustrated by Poonam Mistry: You’re Safe with Me, You’re Snug with Me and, coming soon, You’re Strong with Me, demonstrates that there is a great cross-over in Indian culture and artwork that can be appreciated around the world!
