A weekend ‘book’ed at Bookaroo

After a cracker of fifth edition last year, Bookaroo, children’s favourite literature festival, the sixth edition was held from November 23-24, 2013 with a grand line-up of writers, illustrators, poets and storytellers at IGNCA, New Delhi. In association with Hindustan Times, the event saw 105 speakers from 14 countries making it an enjoyable experience for kids.

With 116 sessions in all, youngsters could be seen engaged in chats with their favourite authors, taking part in educational workshops, attending storytelling sessions or indulging in art and craft. The Doodle wall was undoubtedly the most crowded stop at the fest, where children indulged themselves in creating imaginative drawings and sketches.

Hindustan Times (HT) was present with their ‘You Read They Learn’ initiative at the venue, which aims to send underprivileged children in schools with the help of various NGOs. Many schools and general people donated books at their stall.

IglooBooks acquires Elcy Editions

IglooBooks, one of the UK’s fastest growing private publishing companies, has announced its first ever overseas acquisition deal which will see Elcy Editions, a publisher of illustrated children books and adult non-fiction titles, welcomed into its family. Based in the heart of Paris and previously owned and managed by the late Christophe Lagrange, Elcy Editions has established itself as a leader in its field in French-speaking markets. The two companies have built a fruitful partnership in recent years and the deal will allow Elcy to benefit from Igloo’s strong market position and publishing expertise while improving Igloo’s status as a mover and shaker in the UK and beyond.

IglooBooks will retain Elcy’s current management structure, headed up by Eric Ekmektchian and Jeanne Remience, and the company will continue to operate out of its premises at 48, Rue Montmartre, Paris. Its titles will continue to be sold by Dilisco and Hachette.
