FarFaria announces partnership with Canadian publisher Orca Book Publishers
FarFaria, the award-winning iPad app that offers unlimited reading for families, is announcing an exciting new partnership with Canadian publisher Orca Book Publishers.
Orca Book Publishers was founded in 1982 and produces award-winning, best-selling children’s books in numerous genres and formats. FarFaria publishes a handful of Orca picture books and board books for young readers including Hamster Holding Hands and Kiss, Tickle, Cuddle, Hug. In August, FarFaria published the imaginative Mechanimals and Night Boy picture books.

ACK pays tribute to Kurien through comics
Amar Chitra Katha (AKC) in association with Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) released a series of biographical comics on the visionary dairy technologist Dr Verghese Kurien on the eve of his 92nd birth anniversary (September 09). Paying tribute to the great Indian social entrepreneur, best known as ‘Father of the White Revolution’ the comics is titled Varghese Kurien: The Man with the ‘Billon-Litre’ Idea.

Purple Turtle shines at Frankfurt Book Fair 2013
Purple Turtle, licensed by Aadarsh Pvt Ltd, displayed more than 100 books at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2013 and received tremendous response. Purple Turtle experienced a splendid response at the fair where kids enjoyed the company of their little friend “Purple Turtle” and the entire gathering of people at the fair evinced their interest and appreciated Purple Turtle for its contribution and participation.

Children’s Book Fair to Promote Copyright Trading debuts in Shanghai
The inaugural China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF),was held at the ShanghaiMart Exhibition Center from November 7-9, 2013. Managed by Reed Exhibitions and supported by the General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television, this event was dedicated to the copyright trading, publishing, printing and distribution of content/books aimed at 0 to 16 year-olds.
Home to more than 230 million people under the age of 16, China boasts a flourishing children’s publishing sector that is currently valued at USD 5 billion, of which USD 340 million comes from licensing. These figures illustrate why children’s books are the most dynamic, competitive and fastest growing sector in China’s publishing industry. Between 2011 and 2012, the number of children’s publications grew by 35 percent, with 20 percent of total rights sales in China’s book industry coming from this segment.
“The purchasing power of young Chinese parents is huge. Over 52 percent prefer buying books to borrowing them from libraries. In fact, 70 percent of this market segment buys books for their children on a monthly basis,” says Randy Wang, senior project manager at Reed Exhibitions, the exclusive event manager of CCBF. At the same time, 90 percent of the children’s book content in China is imported.
A comprehensive collection of on-site events were running concurrent to the fair, which included The International Children’s Book Publishing Summit, The Best Children’s Book Award, The International Children’s Publication Copyright Trade Summit, The International Children’s Book Promotion Events, the International Promotion of Chinese Children’s Literature Author Workshops and more.
