India is home to a host of book fairs and literature festivals. Here’s a sneak peek into some of these events by Varsha Verma.

Bangalore Book Fair

Organisers: Bangalore Booksellers and Publishers Association
Venue: Palace Grounds, Bangalore
This major book fair is said to be the second largest in the country and is generally held in November.

Bangalore Literature Festival

Venue: The LaLiT Ashok Lawns, Bengaluru
This is a great place for book enthusiasts and talented writers.

Chennai Book Fair

Organisers: Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India
The fair lasts for about 10 days and is held between December and January. The fair is one of the important cultural events every year.

Delhi Book Fair

Organisers: India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)
Venue: Pragati Maidan, New Delhi
It is held in the month of August/September and the last edition of the Delhi Book Fair was recently held from August 25-Sept 2, 2018.

Delhi Literature Festival

Supported by: Delhi Government
Venue: Dilli Haat
The beautiful historic city of Delhi, with a varied literary and cultural heritage, has it’s own three days Delhi Literature Festival (DLF) organised and celebrated in the winters of every year, around February.

Goa Arts & Literature Festival

Organiser: The International Centre
Venue: The International Centre Goa
Despite its small size and modest budget, GALF has become a magnet for some of the most acclaimed writers and poets from across India and the rest of the world world.

Hyderabad Book Fair

The fair is usually held in the month of December every year.

International Kolkata Book Fair

It is one of the most important book fairs in the country.

Kochi International Book Festival

Organizers: Antharashtra Pusthakotsava Samithy, Kochi
Venue: Ernakulathappan Grounds, Kochi
It is the largest and one of the best book fairs in South India.

Neev Literature Festival

Organiser: Neev Academy
Venue: Neev Academy, Bengaluru
Started last year with the aim to encourage conversation among different stakeholders in children’s publishing, the festival will recognize outstanding talents in the field this year by bestowing three Neev Children’s Book Awards (NCBA).

New Delhi

World Book Fair

Organisers: National Book Trust, India, in association with ITPO
Venue: Pragati Maidan, New Delhi
According to NBT, it is the biggest book fair in the Afro-Asian Region and attracts exhibitors both from India and abroad.

Noida International Literature Festival

Organiser: Vibhor Festival Trust
This is a new bookfest and this year, it will be their second edition.
