The Indian publishing industry witnessed one of the major international events this February. Hosted by the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP), the 32nd IPA International Publishers Congress came back with a bang, successfully held in New Delhi from 11-13 February, 2018. This was only the second time that India had been given the responsibility to host the prestigious event; the first being way back in 1992. This three-day programme was peppered with fascinating international speakers who gave insights, new visions and perspectives to the attendees who also learnt new strategies to cope with changes taking place in the world publishing industry.

Those who have missed the IPA Congress, can benefit from a detailed report in this issue. With a successful IPA Congress in its belt, Indian publishing industry is now gearing towards more milestones.

The children trade publishing in India is also in a vibrant phase – new publishers are coming in and so are new authors and illustrators, who are experimenting with totally different topics. They are more open to take publishing risks if the topics are relevant, however offbeat they are! The writers and illustrators have come of age and have developed their own unique style with an universal appeal. Infact, there is a lot happening in this industry and we tried to bring a fair view about this genre in this issue.

It is very heartening to share that at the much-awaited London Book Fair 2018 to be held from April 10-14, 2018, Daisy Forum of India has been shortlisted for Accessible Books Consortium International Excellence Award: Initiative. The Indian publishing industry is now getting its share of recognition and it definitely calls for a huge applause.

Happy publishing!
