Jumpstart Goes to School was a confluence of many ideas with 17 speakers from 4 countries across 2 cities. The event provided a 360 degree view of education in theory and in practice.

Organised by German Book Office, New Delhi, JUMPSTART is the annual congress of children’s content creators. Started in 2009, as a series of Master classes, this project has seen exemplary growth as a platform for ideation, training, development and collaborations in the world of children’s content. Held in two cities – Delhi and Bangalore, this year, ‘JUMPSTART Goes to School’ travelled along the wide and deep interface between education in school and children’s content.

The major talk points of Jumpstart 2016 included the evolution of pedagogy highlighting the teaching-learning transaction, sensory development and skill building and looking at how developers can create curricula to address these needs. The second focus area was technology and the teaching-learning transaction, addressing whether technology can help the critical development of students and bring them to learn at the same pace. The third focus area was future of innovation in education.

The speakers at the event included Ken Spillman, author, editor and critic- Australia; Dr. Florian Sochatzyis, CEO, Institute for Digital Learning, Munich, Germany; Preminda Langar, educator; Sabina Jain, co-founder, Callystro; Ratnesh Kumar Jha, managing director, South Asia, Cambridge University Press; Rohit Kumar, founder, Chapter Apps Inc; Amit Kaushik, economist; Harish Doraiswamy, vice president (direct delivery) schools vertical, Pearson India; Tara Kini, consultant in Education and Music; Amrita Lalljee, educator, performer and director; Orit Bergman, author & illustrator, Kerem Maharal, Israel; Neeraj Jain, MD, Scholastic India; Mukesh Kumar, regional head, Agastya International Foundation; Vineet Gupta, first generation entrepreneur; and Sugat Jain, director, IT, Ratna Sagar.

The masterclasses at Jumpstart included Digital Learning Design Masterclass; Writers’ Masterclass; and Illustrators’ Masterclass.

The event was well-attended by creators, writers, designers, educators, publishers, innovators, thinkers, and provocateurs.
