Replika expands massively, organised open house in Delhi

Leading book printer Replika Press recently organised an open house and unveiled its fully-functional third plant in Kundli.

Leading book printer, Replika Press, organised an Open House – ‘Revisiting the Book of Life’ in Delhi, which attracted who’s who of the publishing fraternity not only from India but also overseas.

Replika has recently expanded, with a third factory near its two existing plants in Kundli, with a floor space of more than 4,80,000 sq/ft. The new building took three years to be operational at a cost of Rs 60 crore. The new facility has complete book finishing setup including separate space for hardcover and soft cover books. They have a printing solution for every custom book with a capability to produce print runs from 1 to 500 copies digitally and 500 to 5,00,000 copies by offset and deliver soft case and hard case with perfect or PUR bound books with value added application of special finishes, UV varnish, die-punching, foil stamping and blocking among other custom applications as desired by the clients.

Their finishing unit houses folding machines from Stahl and MBO Combi. While, they have Gathering & Sewing machines from Aster, Muller Martini, Wohlenberg, Kolbus and Welbound single clamp with PUR and hot melt facilities.

For, soft cover, they have recently installed online fully loaded Kolbus Gathering machine ZU 804, Meccanotecnica book block feeder XMT 280, end sheet gluer VA 422, Ratiobinder KM 473, Premelter LH 370 (2X), Three knife trimmer HD 150 B, Rima compensating stacker XRS 130, BVM pile wrapping machine, Conveying/Cooling/ drying system.

Also housed are Heidelberg Stitch Master ST, Kolbus Board & Cloth Cutter, Kolbus Case Maker, Sigloch Endpapering Machine, Back Gluing and Backlining Machine, Nipping Press, Ribbon Inserting Machine, Kolbus Casing In machine, Kolbus Three Knife Trimmer, Kolbus Jacketing Machine, James Burns Switzerland Wiro Binding & Punching Machines, Hunkeler sheet paster, Polar Guillotines, etc.

The Open House also had a panel discussion on Indian book printing market, featuring top-of-the-line publishers like Stephen Esson, group publishing operations director, Penguin Random House, UK; Louise Cameron, group production director, Bloomsbury Publishing Plc; Mike Levaggi, group production director, HarperCollins Publishers; JP Vij of Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers; and Rajiv Beri, managing director, Bloomsbury Publishing India. Vikaran Seth, directorproduction, Replika Press while speaking to Sonal Khurana, managing editor, All About Book Publishing, said, “The new setup in Kundli is an integrated setup for finishing, packing and straight loading to the shipping containers as books from Replika are being exported to five continents.”

Replika Press was bestowed a Special Export Award by Capexil for its achievements in export of books at a ceremony held recently in New Delhi. The company grabbed the award on the strength of its reported exports of highest value, Rs 760 million, to countries like Tanzania, Kuwait, Nigeria, Ghana, Oman and Singapore, among others.
