The volcanic ash travel disruptions last year left many exhibitors as well as visitors with no choice than to miss the much-sought after London Book Fair 2010. This year, the show is back with all its regular features and some more like key themes like Children’s & young adult publishing, Russia market focus, Author’s day and more. Here’s more on this leading event of the publishing industry. The London Book Fair 2011 The London Book Fair 2011 will be held from April 11-13 at Earls Court, London. It is global marketplace for rights negotiations and the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, TV, film and digital channels. Taking place every spring in the world’s premier publishing and cultural capital, it’s a unique opportunity to explore, understand and capitalise on the innovations shaping the publishing world of the future.

The other key themes this year include Children’s & Young Adult Publishing, Russia Market Focus, Film & TV (restricted access: IRC badge holders and film/TV producers only), Libraries, Literary Translation and Comic & Graphic Novels.

The Children’s & Young Adult Publishing Zone will be one of the fair’s largest zones and main seminar streams, featuring 150 exhibitors with a further 450 general exhibitors offering children’s content.

Many important general publishing topics will also compete for visitors’ attention, ranging from the talent time bomb – the skills and knowledge required for publishing in the digital age, to the partnership between editor and author, an age-old dynamic, but as important as ever.

There will be over 150 hour-long seminars to choose from, in several venues around the Fair, and an equal number of events such as author interviews, demonstrations and presentations taking place mainly on the show floor. There will be a live cookery demonstrations in the Cook Book Corner, informative talks for writers in the Author Lounge, interviews with celebrated authors in the English PEN Literary Café, technology of the future in the Digital Zone.

Besides, the London Book Fair has announced bestselling authors Claire Tomalin, Boris Akunin and Julia Donaldson with illustrator Axel Scheffler, as the Authors of the Day for 2011. This popular initiative, introduced in 2006, will see the authors each spend one day at the Fair, where they will showcase their work.
