Seminar on publishing at the Kochi Literature Festival 2017

FICCI, along with Kochi International Book Festival (KIBF), organised a Seminar on Publishing on December 9, 2016 at BTH Bharath Hotel Auditorium, Kochi.

The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. K. Sreenivasarao, secretary, Sahitya Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India; EN Nandakumar, president, Kochi International Book Festival 2016; and Vikrant Mathur, director – South Asia, Nielsen India.

Dr. Sreenivasarao emphasised the need to spread awareness among authors about their rights and freedom. While, Vikrant Mathur, director – South Asia, Nielsen India, made a presentation on the “Publishing sector in India.”

Sumeet Gupta, director, FICCI, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the role that FICCI is playing in the promotion of the publishing sector, both domestically and at international forums.

The session on the “Future of Indian Publishing: Author’s Perspective”, was chaired by Rubin D’ Çruz, senior Malayalam editor and in-charge, Kochi Book Promotion Centre, NBT, Ministry of HRD, GoI. The session witnessed speeches of renowned Malayalam authors like Sethu Madhavan, George Joseph K and Resmi Jaimon.

R Gopalakrishnan, former secretary, Kerala Sahitya Akademi and moderated the session on “Printing Technology: Emerging Trends”. The session witnessed representation from print and technology companies like Xerox and Fujifilm.

Savio Mathew, head – FICCI Kerala State Council delivered the vote of thanks. More than 100 participants attended the seminar.
