Delhi Book Fair: paradise for book lovers

Inauguration of the 22nd Delhi Book Fair by Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology, Govt. of IndiaThe 22nd Delhi Book Fair was being staged from August 27-September 4, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The fair was organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation, in association with Federation of Indian Publishers. The fair was inaugurated by Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Harsh Vardhan, who stressed on the power of book to transform one’s life. He also launched a guide and a mobile application for the fair. The show features over 250 national and international exhibitors and highlighted the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme of the central government.

The theme pavilion housed the various national campaigns like ‘Make in India’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Digital India’, ‘Skill India’, ‘Startup India’, ‘Smart Cities’ and ‘Umang’ (Unified mobile app for New-age Governance) that have been launched by the incumbent government. It was transformed into a selfie station, where visitors could click selfies with cut-outs depicting the respective campaigns.

Awards for Excellence in Book Production @ Delhi Book Fair

Dr. Mahandra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Minister is giving away Memento as well as Certificate at Awards giving ceremony held on 2 September 2016 during the DBF at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.This time, the Awards for Excellence in Book Production was open to all publishers and not just restricted to members of the publishers associations. Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) received 1530 books from 90 publishers, out of which 109 titles of 55 publishers were conferred with awards. Some of the publishers who received first prize in different categories included Om Books International, Rajkamal Prakashan, Orient Blackswan, Niyogi Books, Bloomsbury Publishing India, DC Books, Hind Pocket Books, Evergreen Publications, Vishv Books, Dreamland Publications, Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers, among others
