Others speakers to this seminar included Zhang Yijum, director-general of digital publishing department, SAPPRFT; Du Xian, editorin- chief of People’s Medical Publishing House; Liu Changming, general manager of digital publishing and digital education department, Beijing Founder Electronics Co.Ltd.; Kailash Balani of Balani Infotech and Sunny Nath, director, sales and business development, Aptara.

“The use of digital content has helped countries to publish more. China and India have published more in the last 10-15 years or so. China is now the second largest contributor of scientific papers in English after USA,” said Balani.

“In collaboration at government level, China and India can play a major role in digital publishing as both countries have large number of consumers and hence both countries will benefit from each other by publishing in areas like history, culture, humanities and social science, traditional medicine, business management, art, and in regional languages. With translation of already existing material in Indian regional languages and in Chinese language, China and India can benefit immediately by publishing such material digitally for the benefit of our societies. This will also encourage Chinese and Indians to learn each others’ languages,” he added.
