Promoting Chinese books & culture in India

GBD want to not only introduce Chinese language in India but also promote Chinese culture & folklore in India in a big way.

General Book Depot (GBD) started publishing Chinese language books in 2008 and till now have reprinted more than 25 Chinese/Mandarin books in India. At the New Delhi World Book Fair, 2016, China is the Guest of Honour Country and many Chinese publishers are participating. GBD Books will be signing contract with publishers and releasing many Chinese/ Mandarin books in collaboration with Royal Collins Publishing Group; Foreign Language Press (FLP); New World Press (NWP); The Commercial Press; People’s Education Press (PEP); Heibei Publishing & Media Group; Beijing Welkin Star Culture Media; Sinolingua; Sichuan Publishing House of Science & Technology; CITIC Publishing Group; Quizdao Publishing Group; Anhui Publishing Group; Guangdong Publishing Group; Zheijiang Publishing United Group and many others.

‘General Book Depot’ was started by WR Goyal in 1933 at Nai Sarak, Delhi. “Ours is a family business, running for about 82 years and now managed by the third generation. GBD is the leading supplier of books to school and college libraries all over India. We started publishing under the imprint Pigeon & GBD Books in 2008 and have published 300 books till now on English Classics, School Books, Foreign Languages and Dictionaries. We have already reprinted many Chinese Language learning books under agreement with Sinolingua, FLP, FLTRP, and PEP, The Commercial Press, NWP, Royal Collins, Hebei Education, Zhejiang Publishing, etc. and are the only importers & distributors of Chinese books in India. We are reprinting and distributing Chinese Language & Cultural books in India under the name of ‘China Book Centre’,” tells Kaushal Goyal.

Many Chinese publishers (20-30) and about 20-30 Indian publishers, friends, press reporters and diplomats are invited for all these events.

Apart from these 12 events, Kaushal Goyal is organizing Special Dinner Parties for different Chinese Publishers from January 8-11, 2016 at Ethiopian Cultural Centre, Chanakyapuri. On January 11, they will be releasing Jack Ma: The Authorised Biography by Chen Wei and China Taobao Village, both books published in India by GBD Books in collaboration with Royal Collins & Zhejiang Publishing Group.
