The countdown has begun for the 40th International KIBF ’16 – one of the largest book fairs in the world to be held from January 27 to February 07, 2016 at the Milan Mela Grounds in Kolkata. Bolivia will be the focal theme country. Coincidentally 2016 is the 50th year of Che Guevara’s immortal struggle against imperialism in Bolivia.

The book fair will be inaugurated by Magela Baudoin, a noted litterateur and novelist from the focal theme country, Bolivia, in presence of the chief guest, hon’ble chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee and other dignitaries. Magela Baudoin is the Bolivian National Award winner for novels in 2014 and was recently awarded the Gabriel Garcia Marquez Spanish American Short Story Award for her collection of La Composicion de La Sal (Salt’s Composition).

This year will also see Vietnam as the guest of honor country. A large delegation of authors, publishers, dancers and singers from Vietnam will be attending the fair. As 2016 signifies 60 years of diplomatic relationship between India and Spain, it will be celebrated by a special appearance by Spain. Other Latin American countries like Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and Surinam will also be participating.
