Tara Books goes to London
The Cloth of the Mother Goddess, a t ext i le book published by Tara Books, has been chosen for display as part of the Fabric of India exhibition, a textile exhibition theme at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The book is exhibited outside the National Art Library at V & A and is also available for purchase at the museum’s bookshop. It’s notable that Tara Books is the only Indian publisher presenting a textile book.
As part of the event, Arun Wolf, editor, Tara Books and filmmaker also made a presentation followed by a film screening session as part of V&A’s India Festival 2015 held at National Art Library. He spoke about how the book was conceived, Jagdish Chitara, Mata-Ni-Pachedi artist who created the art for the book and the art tradition. The film on The Cloth of the Mother Goddess was screened along with the second part of another film creation, which shows the making of the handmade book under the same name. The book will be exhibited till January 2016 at the venue.
