Dr Noor passes away


A doyen of Punjabi literature and vice president of Sahitya Akademi professor Sutinder Singh Noor (1940-2011) passed away in New Delhi on February 9, 2011. He was a renowned poet, thinker, critic and a mentor for many authors. Born at Kotkapura in Punjab, Dr Noor taught Punjabi at Delhi University for nearly 37 years. And apart from being VP of Sahitya Akademi, he also served as a member of esteemed bodies like the Language Council, Knowledge and Translation Commissioner and as convener of bodies like Birla Foundation and Jnanpeeth. Dr Noor won a Sahitya Akademi award for his book of criticism Kavita di Bhoomika. AABP team pays emotional tribute to the departed soul!
