New titles from Macaw Books

At the recently concluded New Delhi World Book Fair, Macaw Books released a series of illustrated moral story books. The series titled, Be Good, Do Good contains slice-of-life stories that teach some of the most valuable life lessons young children should be introduced with. Accompanied with innovative and striking illustrations, these books are the perfect guide for young children to help them make the right choice in times of moral crises. Jahnavi Gogoi Borah, a budding writer from Toronto, Canada, has authored the series. The series has received overwhelming response from young readers, teachers and parents.

A prelude to Comic Con!

Comic Invasion Night was recently organised by Comic Con India at Bangalore, witnessed a crazy celebration of pub-quiz, cosplaying and stand up comedy; setting the stage for and flagging off Bangalore Comic Con 2015 which will take place in April’ 2015. The Comic Invasion Night gave Bangaloreans an evening full of laughter with city’s amusing & popular stand-up comedians; Sundeep Rao and Sanjay Manaktala. The night had lots of things in store for Bangalore people and gave them a chance to come and deck up as their favourite characters. All crazy comic fans didn’t miss a single chance to get their pix clicked with coolest and funky cosplayers in the city. An action packed Bangalore Comics Convention 2015 is all set to entertain Indian audience at White Orchid Convention Centre from April 3-5, 2015. Jason Latour, a comic book artist and writer, famous for his work Wolverine and the X-Men (vol. 2) along with other eminent International personalities are coming to attend Bangalore Comic Con 2015. Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India, shared, “Bangalore is one of our biggest shows and we are back much earlier this year for the fans with tons of new comics, merch and fun experiences.” One of the main attractions at Bangalore Comic Con 2015 will be The Game of Throne’s special Photo-op Booth. Comic Con India has officially tied up with HBO to bring the Throne replica exclusively at Bangalore Comic Con.

Chronicle Books announced that three of its bestselling children’s books have reached a combined 297 total weeks on the New York Times’ Children’s Picture Book Bestseller list. These inc lude Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site written by Sherri Duskey Rinker; Rinker and Lichtenheld’s sophomore release Steam Train, Dream Train; and Press Here, written by French author Hervé Tullet.

10th anniversary celebrations
of Graphix Imprint!

Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, has recently published BONE #1: Out from Boneville, The Tribute Edition. This special edition of the first book in Jeff Smith’s award-winning and bestselling graphic novel series kicks off the 10th anniversary celebration of the Scholastic Graphix imprint in 2015. The Graphix imprint launched in 2005 with the color edition of BONE #1: Out from Boneville by Jeff Smith. Aimed at readers ages 8 to 12, and published simultaneously in the United States and Canada, the full-colour special edition contains a brand-new illustrated poem from creator Jeff Smith plus original BONE tribute art from sixteen additional top artists in the form of mini-comics and full-page artwork. The contributors include major artists working in comics and illustration today, such as Kate Beaton, Jeffrey Brown, Kazu Kibuishi, Dav Pilkey, Raina Telgemeier, and Craig Thompson. “BONE continues to be the cornerstone of the Graphix list and has inspired us to publish creator-driven books with exceptional storytelling and artwork,” said David Saylor, vice president creative director, trade publishing, and founder and editorial director of Graphix. “Jeff Smith has been an essential guiding spirit for Graphix and I’m thrilled to be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Graphix list with this wonderful tribute edition of Out from Boneville.”

New publishing programme based
on powerhouse Lego brands

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will launch a new publishing programme based on internationally popular LEGO brands as part of a multiple book, multi-year agreement with the LEGO Group, said Andrew Smith, the division’s senior vice president and deputy publisher, who made the acquisition for North American rights. Rex Ogle, Senior Editor at Little, Brown, will edit the books. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will launch their LEGO line with graphic novels, each based on three popular, bestselling LEGO properties: LEGO NinjagoTM, LEGO Friends, and LEGO BIONICLE Geared for readers ages 6 – 11, the books will feature fun adventures and original storytelling that will expand the LEGO universe and build upon the key LEGO themes of creativity, imagination, and humor. In addition, each novel will feature exclusive content designed to enhance the storytelling and further engage young readers. The first book will be released in September 2015.
